Two weeks ago, I led my squaddies in our weekly prayer meeting using the words from this verse
Side bar: Incidentally I just published a post on Eziaha.com, my private blog and I used another scripture focus from the same Isaiah 28 haha. What a beautiful chapter
A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO HOW I WAR WITH PROPHECIES
Ok, back to the gist
That scripture says that He is a SOURCE OF STRENGTH to those who TURN BACK THE BATTLES AT THE GATE.
Gosh, I love love love that scripture because of how accurate it is.
I am about to give the Prophet Isaiah a WHOLE offering.
I can unpack it, by the grace of God, in very many different ways, but I want to focus on fitfam for the purpose of this blog
You see, when it comes to TEMPTATIONS of food and lifestyle, one of the BIGGEST MISTAKES we make would be UNDERESTIMATING how much control and power food has, which we have given to it.
We UNDERESTIMATE just how DIFFICULT a lifestyle change can be, so we go about the fight casually.
For instance, coke is your weakness.
You have drank coke for many many years.
You decide to get your health together.
BUT
You still leave coke in your home.
In your fridge
Where you can easily see it.
Then you decide one day, in your weak moment, to just take a small sip. You won’t finish the bottle, you say.
And this applies, to everything that is YOUR TEMPTATION.
Groundnut, chocolate, small chops, biscuits, etx
You say you will just take a little.
Then you start, and BAM, you have finished the whole thing.
YOU DID NOT TURN BACK THAT BATTLE AT THE GATE
You let the enemy in, thinking you can CONTROL it, but the strength you have, is NOT FOR CONTROL when it is already in.
The STRENGTH WE HAVE, IS THE ONE THAT TURNS BACK THE BATTLE AT THE GATE
The one that says, yes I am tempted right now, BUT this child is strong enough to turn back that battle at the gate.
You REFUSE TO HAVE A SIP, BITE, OR GULP
Yes, no doubt, it is HARD to fight temptation that way BUT it takes FAR LESS STRENGTH to not indulge, than it takes to STOP WHEN YOU HAVE ALREADY STARTED TO INDULGE
And this especially applies for you at the beginning of the fight to conquer a temptation.
For example, when noodles was my temptation, I KNEW it would be SO HARD TO STOP IF I SMELLED IT sef, so I stopped feeding my son that and then didn’t buy any again.
I didn’t move from noodles daily to noodles once a week.
I moved from noodles daily to NO NOODLES at all in my diet
That battle, if I let it in, would be a losing one.
I didn’t have that much control so I wasn’t even coming to the war.
I locked my gates and threw the keys away
For at least, SIX MONTHS, that battle was not mine.
It is like turning on a faulty tap. It just drips drips drips annoyingly all day, and I didn’t want that, so I left the tap OFF
Now, I can open and lock that tap at will because, by GOD’S GRACE, I have more discipline.
I buy noodles for my husband and anyone in my home, except my kids. I don’t feed my kids that because it is empty nutrition wise, but once in a while, I can eat it.
It has lost its control, so it is fine.
Meanwhile I did this post on CoachE’s fortified noodles here
