With the days of famous discoveries behind her, she is now searching for ordinary fossils to sell to tourists to support herself and her ailing mother. If Mary, a wealthy visitor, entrusts the care of his wife Charlotte Murchison (Saoirse Ronan), she cannot allow her offer to be rejected. Mary, proud and incessantly passionate about her work, initially meets her unwanted guest, but despite the distance between her social class and personality, a close bond begins to form that forces the two women to determine the true nature of their relation.
