After being released from his rock band, guitarist Dewey Finn faces a mountain of debt and depression. He reunites with former band member Ned Schnibli, who is now an alternative teacher. Dewey takes a job as an alternative teacher in a private elementary school, where his character and daughter have positive results for his students. He learns that they are talented young musicians, and decides to form a rock band with them to win a cash prize of $ 10,000 at a local band competition. After Dewey won a competition called “Battle of the Bands”, cash prizes would solve his financial problems and return him to rock music. Steve Shedloski
