Welcome to another blog. This post was originally published in 2018 but I believe that many of us will find it relevant, especially if you’re just starting your healthy living journey or you’re making re-commitments.
My Dear Dear Squaddie
Oh, my heart is PUMPED with JOY that YOU have decided to start this journey to physical transformation, which you would soon realize would affect your spiritual and emotional life too.
This ride rocks baby. I have been on it for like 3 years now and please TEAM FIT FAM EVERY DAY and PROUDLY SO!!!
Like you, I decided one day that I was DONE!!! Done giving excuses for my weight. I was ready to TAKE CHARGE and do something, so I will write this letter while I reminisce on those early days.
I am writing you this letter to share just THREE things with you that I learned at the beginning and it is my hope that this would PUMP YOU UP for this HEALTHY LIVING journey for life, even though you may be with me just for 4 weeks, or 8 weeks or 12 weeks or 6 months.
And that exactly is my FIRST POINT
1.This is FOR LIFE
Oh, my sister, the biggest mistake you can make is think that ‘…after my time with CoachE’, or after I hit my goal weight, I can now start eating any how…’ My sister, no even think am, if not you will be right back with me, or another Coach starting all over again. This is not for 4 weeks or 6months. This is FOR LIFE. If you revert to old lifestyle, all the weight you lost will come back. If you however see it as a FOR LIFE thing, your mind auto opens up to creative and exciting ways to make this journey rock for you. Which is why I want you to be ALL IN and go ALL OUT. I am here to answer questions you may have that would help you stay on this grind even after you have left the Squad
2. THIS IS HARD!!!
Look, any kind of lifestyle change is hard, ESPECIALLY THE ONES THAT WILL MAKE YOU BETTER. I don’t even mince words. I say it as it is… THIS JOURNEY IS HARD!!! Many days you will wanna give up. Many days you will hate me. You will ALMOST give up. You will THINK FITFAM is not for you and that some people are meant to be fat (VERY WRONG COS FAT IS UNHEALTHY and GOD IS A GOOD GOD). But like one of my past Squaddies Mide who was in this week to motivate you said, IT IS NOT A SMOOTH RIDE BUT THE END IS SWEET.
Oh, bless my sweet Mide.
So, if you came here thinking it will be easy, FORGET IT. You can try taking pills instead for quick easy results BUT THEY ARE NOT SUSTAINABLE. You can’t live on pills. But discipline? That is hard but sustainable. And BIG GIRLS do sustainable baby!!!
3. You are WORTH THE INVESTMENT
Oh honey, don’t be afraid to INVEST in yourself and new lifestyle. You will soon find that healthy eating will cost you TIME. It is easier to buy and pop fast foods in your mouth. You will find it easier to sleep in than to wake and work out. Meal prep will cost you time but YOU ARE WORTH THE INVESTMENT. You would notice I have not talked about money cost cos fitfam SAVES YOU MONEY both now and in the long run. The reason why some may think FITFAM is costlier is cos they come in with the mindset that it should cost them NOTHING. More like FREEFAM so even when Apples move from 50 to 80 box, they cry!!! Meanwhile, all the junk biscuits skyrocket in price daily esp cos most of them are imported, yet you don’t complain’
My sister, fitfam will cost you time, among other things but you are WORTH THE INVESTMENT.
And hey baby girl, how about a BONUS point for the road?
You better invite God in to this journey.
By strength shall NO MAN prevail…
Or like one of my fave Bible translations say,
NO ONE MAKES IT IN THIS LIFE BY SHEER MUSCLE… 1 Sam 2 v 9 MSG
But hey, YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS YOU… Phil 4 v 13
So ask Him for GRACE, STRENGTH and DISCIPLINE. Plus take your confessions which we post daily.
