The Battle of Bad Habits
Continuation of my citizen’s story.
So After the heart-to-heart with that my lovely citizen in part 1 . She looked at me, a mix of frustration and determination in her eyes, and said, “Coach, you’re dealing with 35 years of the wrong habits here! How are we gonna change that now?” And I thought, oh boy, we’ve got a challenge on our hands! And she said (with a touch of sadness,) “I blame my mom.”
Now, hear me out! No guilt trips for parents here! But this encounter made me realize how vital it is that we start young when it comes to instilling healthy habits.
It breaks my heart to think about the unnecessary health struggles we might be setting up for our children if we don’t act now. We have the chance to give them lives filled with joy, health, and the ability to jump up and down with excitement. So why not seize that opportunity?
But there she was, stuck in a loop of blame, saying, “I blame my mom!” I can’t help but feel the weight of her words because this story fuels my passion to keep pushing for change. If we shout loud enough and spread awareness, maybe, just maybe, we can guide others toward making better choices. And who knows? In 20 years, we might just see a generation thriving instead of surviving!
A Purpose-Driven Plate
Now, speaking of purpose, I had the pleasure of chatting with one of our incredible speakers at the Save our children wellness revival .
She’s a mom who actually reversed autism in her child through diet—can you say, “WOW”? The way she put it, “My kids have a purpose too.” That struck me because every child does have a purpose, and we shouldn’t let poor eating habits be the thing that dims that light. “Your kids have a purpose, too!” Yes! It’s so easy to overlook that in the chaos of everyday life.
Think about it, our little ones have dreams, aspirations, and unique talents just waiting to shine. But if they’re bogged down by poor nutrition, those dreams can be stifled. A child frequently in and out of the hospital? That’s not the life we want for them! That’s time, energy, and potential they could have put toward their purpose! With a solid diet, we can help our kids uncover their true potential instead of getting in the way.
Let’s take a quick detour into psychology! for those who remember it from Psych 101. Remember Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs? At the very bottom of that pyramid lies the basics: air, water, and food, everything needed for survival.
And at the top? Self-actualization, that beautiful place where we’re truly living our best lives. For our children to reach that top level, they need a foundation that’s strong from the ground up. Food is literally the first building block.
Before we can even think about love, belonging, and self-actualization, we need to get the foundation right.
Imagine a future where our kids aren’t weighed down by preventable health problems. Instead, they’re thriving, discovering their purpose, and building their legacy. That future isn’t far-fetched; it starts now, with every bite we serve, every food choice we make.
Our kids are meant to shine, to live out dreams bigger than we can imagine. Let’s make sure their diet is setting them up for just that. It’s a no-brainer! The right food choices today lay the groundwork for a healthier, happier tomorrow.
