CoachE'Nation

Yay! So I am super-excited to launch a new segment on the blog called “Beyond Weightloss”

Yes we help people lose weight, but we hope that beyond weight loss, you’re gaining spiritual strength, mental alertness and becoming an around person; spirit, soul and body.

We kicked off with Tobi, who is one of the most amazing person I have coached and she has such an amazing story. It’s my honour to share it today.

Now, let’s hear from Tobi.

I started getting concerned about my health around May last year (2019) when I moved to a new town. I had had some life changes 6 months before that time and the results led me to add almost 9kg.

Prior to that, I had struggled with being overweight according to my BMI calculation during my teenage years.

From then, I embarked on my journey to lose weight and started trying different diets and lost a few pounds which I quickly regained back once I ended the plans because my eating pattern and mindset were still the same.

I then start to pray about my weight as I desired to look and feel great and was not making the progress that I wanted.

In October 2019, CoachE’ launched her “Lose2Gain” intermittent fasting program and the Holy Spirit laid it on my heart to reach out to her and join the program.

I joined weighing 83.3kg and lost about 3kg at the end of the 6 weeks.

I was led to work with COACHE’ for another 6 months and I commenced in January 2020 at 80kg.

I proceeded to do the 6 months because

1. I still hadn’t a mindset change.

2. I had not seen the weight loss on the scale that I wanted

3. I also felt strongly in my heart that I needed to do a longer program

So I registered and have been in for the last 6 months.

June 19 which was my birthday this year, I weighed 68.4kg compared with my start weight of 80.1kg at the beginning of the year!

Although the body/physical change was obvious, moving from 80.1 to 68.4kg. I am still making adjustments, working on losing more weight and building more muscles.

Mentally, I’ll say one of the changes that happened over the coaching period was understanding what the purpose of food was- that food is for energy and not just for pleasure.

I also understood the power of making positive confessions both for our bodies, eating and health generally. Those were the two major shifts in my mindsets that changed me.

Spiritually, I took the confessions very seriously, continued to pray. God really helped me with the mindset change and shifted my motive from just trying to fit into a particular dress size or weight to recognizing that my body is His temple and He is living inside of me.

This means that I must honour my body. Obedience is honouring Him with my body which also includes honouring Him with the quantity and quality of food I put in my body. God also gave me a change in desire- from desiring the unhealthy food to desiring the healthier meals and He helped me with the discipline needed.

This has been a huge huge gain for me on all sides. Physically, like I said, I’ve never returned to the 80s- I’ve be oscillating between 68 and 70 but I’m pushing on until I’m very well in the 60s because I don’t want to go back to the 70s for personal reasons.

I’ve gained so much discipline, spiritually reorientating my mindset about food to being a resource to fuel my body and not for pleasure and also the mindset that my body is the temple of God and honouring it as that. These have been a major game changer for me and are habits and mindset that I’m carrying on into my life going forward

Another thing that’s been a huge game changer for me is the mindset of how I think about and approach food. I used to be someone that when I see Ice cream for example, could eat an entire bowl. But part of the mindset shift is to portion control and put every kind of food in it’s place- that is ‘what is the value I’m getting full eating this food?’

This helps me know how frequently to take these foods. So now I’ve moved from taking a whole bucket of ice cream then to taking a scoop now and having my body shut down, but because I love Ice Cream like CoachE’, I’ve started to take it intermittently just so my body does not get completely unused to having ice cream. This is one example of habits that have changed.

Also I struggled with emotional eating frequently before but in the last 6 months, with the help of God and CoachE’, I’ve been able to recognise when I’m emotionally eating and to find the right resources to get out of that cycle early.

That’s a progress for me- being able to recognise when I’m hungry from when I’m just bored.

Physically, I’m healthier, happier, drinking a lot of water. My pictures show that I’m definitely different from the way I was last year and I’m really grateful for that.

Again, like I always tell CoachE’, I’m still a work in progress. I believe that until the day I draw my final breath or Jesus comes, I wake up daily to pursue a healthier version of myself and that’s what I’m taking away from my journey so far

A word of encouragement to everyone- be ready and get tired of where you are now. Because unless you’re tired of where you are, you’ll always go back to where you were.

Also put God first and keep Him by your side at all times in this journey cos He’s the only one that can help us not only lose the weight physically but also gain the right weight spiritually and mentally and to maintain that for the rest of our lives

Thank you for your audience!

  1. I needed to read her transformation story. I am at a place where I want to be in control of what I feed my body, my mind and my spirit.
My next level is here, God has given me specific instructions on how to live my life in this season and I glad to have Coach E in my corner regarding the body aspect.

When I read the plan it resonated with my spirit, I felt the anointing and grace to follow the plan envelope me.

Day one was yesterday. I baked for my family. Grilled fish. Made our favorite meals and didn’t have one bite or spoonful. Infact I fasted for about 26 hours instead and broke with some fruit. I am not really into fruits of it’s not with yogurt and granola but I did it and was satisfied.

Thank you Coach E for yielding to God and allowing him use you to break yolks of all food lust and it’s entanglements.
