Shalom Shalom Jesus Girls, and a happy new year to you!

I am so excited about this new year, and I know you all are too. It’s another year to be more intentional towards our health and homes.

A new school term begins this January and for us moms this entails waking up early to prepare our kids for school, cooking and preparing their breakfast as well as their lunch boxes, and lots more. I’m a mom of two boys, and at the time of writing this my first son will be 9 years and the second 7 years by their next birthdays. I am doing my very best to be intentional about how I feed them because quite early in my parenting I heard Heather Lindsey say;

With every Bite you’re feeding your children,

You’re either giving them LIFE or DEATH.

She didn’t quite say it like this, but this was how I heard it and received it and it struck a cord with me, meaning with every meal I prepare for my family (my kids and husband) it is either I’m feeding them life or death. To be honest, I didn’t start up that way especially when I had my first son, like most moms I was giving them all kinds of junk thinking it was a sign of wealth and affluence BUT I caught myself pretty early and started to change.

This was why we did the Wellness Revival 2023 catch-up with the replay here. It was so important to me that I wasn’t only telling women, moms, and parents in general WHAT to do but also I was showing them HOW.

I took this to the next level by bringing together 9 Wellness Revivalists plus myself to teach you.

Also, we took it to another level by launching The Nourish and Flourish Moms Club, because I want to make sure you are without excuses, when it comes to how you feed your children.

Ahead of the nourish and flourish moms club, I shared in my recent YouTube video, FIVE foods 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 eliminate from 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴’ 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 and lunch boxes especially in this 2024 as we usher in a new school term. And yes, I 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘢re their alternatives which you can easily find or make in your kitchen.

Your KIDS deserve better on their plates, here’s your simple solution Moms.

For the purpose of this blog, I’ll share two of those foods, but you can watch the full video HERE for all of them

  1. Packaged Fizzy Drinks.

Eliminate packaged sugary drinks irrespective of their container whether they are packed in fancy bottles, cans, or whatever, they are all unhealthy for our kids. Fizzy drinks do nothing for our children, It doesn’t help their health yet we keep giving them as snacks for school, let’s stop doing this please, let’s feed our kiddos’ life, with every food we give them. Right now there’s a rise in inflation and more than ever we must be prudent and be good stewards of our money. Back to fizzy drinks, the best alternative or let’s just say substitute to fizzy drinks is WATER.

Yes, water, give them water, they will get used to it with time. You know I started giving my children water, and they pushed back as you would expect, then I thought of giving them Zobo instead which I did but it kept staining their school uniform so I had to draw back from it, giving them at home instead but you could replace yours with flavored water i.e fruit infused water at least for a start. I promise you this alternative will work, I have applied it to my kids and now they just take only water to school. It is not even debatable, it isn’t an option that anything else goes into their lunch box.

3. Eliminate Fries, Ketchup, and Sausages from your kids meals and lunch box.

All these mentioned above are way too processed and preserved with a lot of chemicals, you don’t want to feed your children death but life. So dear moms let’s start to be more intentional about their every meal, let’s give life to them with every meal that we prepare.

For substitutes that you can easily replace them with – 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞cut 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨es, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 great and 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇𝐘.
