Food… From Organic to DEMONIC

Hey Fitfam,

I have been thinking a lot more about FASTING and what it does both to our flesh and spirit.

And of course, on FOOD and just how POWERFUL it is, to the flesh and spirit

Both FEASTING and FASTING are POWERFUL but in contrary ways.

There is a reason we are called to DEPRIVE ourselves of physical food as Christians, aka FAST, because it has this way of shutting down the flesh well enough for the spirit to gain mastery over it.

Fasting, very surprisingly, gives us strength, but the strength is a spiritual one.

Constantly FEASTING on the other hand, can actually shut down the spirit so much and the flesh is all we have screaming.

Which is why, most times when we need wisdom, strength, or direction for NEXT LEVEL, the Bible encourages us to fast.


Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting fortydays and forty nights, he was hungry.
Matthew 4:1-2

When some things look too much to handle and it is about to swallow us, the Bible encourages us to FAST

However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.

Matthew 17:21

Why are you fasting, that is abstaining from FOOD?

Because flesh is LOUD and FOOD gives even more power to our FLESH

Like we know, the REAL CHRISTIAN STRUGGLE is one between flesh and spirit.

That’s the constant war. Even Paul testifies of it

For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

Galatians 5:17

However, after his rhetoric, he also admits that it is only Christ that can help his (and us all through it)

I give all my thanks to God, for his mighty power has finally provided a way out through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One! So if left to myself, the flesh is aligned with the law of sin, but now my renewed mind is fixed on and submitted to God’s righteous principles

Romans 7:25 TPT

And one of the major ways He helps us is to fortify our spirit man, as we shut down flesh.

Like I said, food fuels your flesh. It makes it louder and louder. Now that is not to say that we should stop eating, nah. We need food to survive “abeg”. We need food for strength and even the Bible says that

Blessed is the land whose king is of noble birth and whose princes eat at a proper time– for strength and not for drunkenness.

Ecc 10:11


But at some level, food moves from SURVIVAL to HINDERANCE.


That is when we start to overeat, which now causes us to OVER SLEEP, lose our sensitivities, make nonsense decisions, weakens us to the point that our spiritual disciplines are compromised, and so on.


That’s the kind of thing that made Esau lose his birthright. Food caused Esau to DESPISE a most precious thing.

Then Jacob gave Esau bread and lentil stew, and he ate and drank and rose and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

Genesis 25:34


That was not just ORGANIC hunger, it was DEMONIC.

That’s what being excessive and extreme in our eating can do.

Yes, the HS lives on the inside of us, but just as in your physical home, you can make it conducive for the occupants, or not, by the actions that you take.

If we are taking spiritual actions like studying the Word, praying in the spirit, maintaining good and godly relationships, and more, the Holy Spirit feels more and more at home, and can truly express Himself to us.

But if we are submitting to gluttony, claiming ‘I am a foodie’, eating any and everything, the truth is that your flesh is what is gaining mastery, and while the Holy Spirit will not move out, He certainly will be stifled and confined to the basement, so we don’t get to enjoy any of His gifts and fruits.

This is why we should incorporate FASTING into our lifestyle as #JesusGirls and followers of Jesus in general.

Fasting can help us shut down the flesh so the spirit gets louder, and of course, this means we are FASTING and STAYING IN THE WORD AND PRAYERS oooo. I mean, it honestly is amazing just how much more sensitive we become as we fast off food and just FEED our spirit instead with the WORD OF GOD.

You hear God more clearly, literally, the more we fast and stay in the WORD and prayers

Even the lifestyle called INTERMITTENT FASTING has been shown to give mental alertness and sharper focus.


As Jesus Girls, IF is not just a fitness trend BUT a spiritual discipline so we PRAY while we Intermittent Fast


That is what fasting does to the mind. On a spiritual level, this is even more pronounced. And interestingly, as our spirits become more powerful, it actually gives LIFE and STRENGTH to our mortal bodies.

Which is why the Bible says a STRONG SPIRIT of a man can SUSTAIN his physical body even in times of sickness

The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness..

Prov 18:14 NKJV


So dear #JesusGirl, can I challenge us all, myself inclusive, to make our bodies even more CONDUCIVE for the Holy Spirit to not just be in, but make Himself so at home, throw His weight around, and furnish us with all of His gifts and fruits?

Let’s do it, Sis.

FOOD should NOT have that MUCH DOMINION over us.

You are NOT a foodie.

You are a SPIRIT-FILLED believer who has the spirit of DISCIPLINE and SELF CONTROL and can shut down the flesh long enough for the Holy Spirit who lives in her, to THRIVE on her inside

So honestly access your relationship with food today?

Is it organic, which is GREAT, or DEMONIC which you should DEAL WITH NOW before it becomes a STRONGHOLD?

        Well done sis, very lovely lovely one.
        I have a question. I don’t eat breakfast till like 12/1/2pm most days. I got used to this when the lockdown started and now I’m used to it. I lost 6kg coupled with the fact that I stopped breastfeeding.
        Can this accumulate to intermittent fasting and be termed the ‘intermittent fasting’ people do?
